OUR ETHICAL & SUSTAINABLE APPROACH
JEWELLERY MADE WITH MORE THOUGHT
I believe beautiful jewellery should feel good to wear - not just because it is beautiful, but because you know it has been thoughtfully designed and made. At Ginger & James, I take a considered approach to the materials I use, the way I work and the longevity of every piece I create. I use recycled precious metals, look for opportunities to reuse existing jewellery and gemstones, and create bespoke pieces designed to be worn and loved for years to come.
Because the most sustainable piece of jewellery is one you'll wear forever.

RECYCLED PRECIOUS METALS
Precious metals that already exist.
All Ginger & James jewellery is made using recycled precious metals.
Gold and other precious metals can be recycled and reused without losing their essential properties.
Choosing recycled metal means existing precious materials can be kept in circulation, reducing the need to rely solely on newly mined metal.
It's one of the simplest ways I can make a more considered choice about the materials that go into your jewellery.
Recycled doesn't mean compromised. It means giving precious materials another life.
DESIGNED TO BE WORN, NOT REPLACED
Jewellery should have a long life.
For me, sustainability isn't only about where a material comes from. It's also about what happens to the jewellery once it leaves the studio.
I design bespoke jewellery around you — your style, how you live and how you want to wear it.
Rather than following short-lived trends, we can create something personal and considered, with the intention that you'll still love it years from now.
And if your style changes?
It doesn't necessarily mean your jewellery has to.

DESIGNED WITH YOU

START WITH YOU
Your story comes first.
Every piece begins with a conversation. We talk about what you want to create, how you want to wear it and what matters to you.
Whether you're starting from scratch or bringing an existing piece of jewellery to life, understanding the story behind it helps shape the design.

CHOOSE WITH INTENTION
Materials that matter.
Together, we consider the precious metals, gemstones and materials that will work best for your design.
I use recycled precious metals and, where appropriate, can explore previously owned or recycled gemstones — creating opportunities to make more considered choices without compromising on the beauty of the finished piece.

DESIGN FOR YOU
Bespoke, not mass-produced.
Your jewellery is designed specifically around you, rather than chosen from a catalogue of existing designs.
From the proportions and shape to the smallest details, every element is considered to create something personal, wearable and designed to stand the test of time.

MAKE IT LAST
Thoughtful craftsmanship.
Once the design is right, your piece is carefully brought to life using quality materials and skilled craftsmanship.
The aim isn't simply to make something beautiful for today, but to create jewellery that can be worn, enjoyed and cared for for years to come.

WEAR IT, LOVE IT, KEEP IT
Give your jewellery a long life.
The journey doesn't end when your jewellery leaves the studio.
With the right care, your piece can become part of your story for years — perhaps even something to pass on.
And if your style changes, remodelling can give it a new chapter rather than leaving it unworn.
Beautiful jewellery shouldn't be disposable. It should have a life of its own.

A MORE CONSIDERED APPROACH
There is no such thing as completely impact-free jewellery.
For me, being an ethical and sustainable jeweller is about making better choices wherever I can, being honest about those choices and continuing to learn and improve.
I won't claim that every material or process is perfect. Instead, I want to be transparent about where I can make a difference — from using recycled precious metals and considering previously owned gemstones, to creating jewellery designed to be worn and loved for years.
It's about doing better, not claiming perfection.
